Our Family!!!

What an adventure!!! Clayton would not smile for anything, Sara wanted to do her own thing, and I was so distracted by the two that I forgot to look at the camera. It was nice to take pictures at the law school since I feel that so much of our $$$ and Jason's time is devoted to that lovely place it might as well be a part of the family.

Texas State Fair

Well we did it! We managed to find time and go and enjoy the fair. It was a little hard since Jason didn't have the extra time to go with us, but luckily my mom came in town to help keep up with two little ones in a vast area of crowds. Sara talks about the Ferris wheel every time we drive by from the freeway so she was so excited to finally get to ride on it. I took both kids on it and it seemed to be just the right pace for us. I was grateful that neither child got scarred at all even when they looked down from the very top- the one nice thing about having kids with no fear. The next event was made obvious by Clayton's huge temper tantrum- we needed some deep fried food. The kids ate some potatoes that are a cross between potato chips and french fries, and then devoured an entire bag of cotton candy while we enjoyed the dog show- which they both really loved. The last event was the petting zoo. It was so much better than the zoo in the fact that they were able to touch all sorts of animals. Clayton really enjoyed getting to touch everything, especially the really soft lama. The giant mother pig did scare him quite a bit when she licked his hand in hopes for food, but all in all it was a great time.

Tangled in String

Tonight Sara and I sat down to read stories as usual, and while Clayton read with us for a short time, soon his attention wandered and he went off to entertain himself. As I was reading I kept noticing out of the corner of my eye that Clayton would begin to enter the room as if something or someone was following him. This caught my attention since I was the only one here, and I couldn't think of an object that would follow him. Well I kept reading trying to hurry and finish the story so I could go and investigate. Well before I could finish I started to hear screams from Clayton in the other room. Alarmed Sara and I ran to see what could be going on. Well I found Clayton completely tangled in a spool of sewing thread. He had found the spool and had been trying to pull the end to get the rest to follow him, but it just kept unraveling. Soon he had managed to get a whole bunch of string wrapped all around his toes and legs and fingers until finally he was just stuck in a tangled mess. It was quite a site to see. Once I untangled him and stopped the spool from unraveling he was able to pull it around the house quite contentedly.

Tutu

Sara and I had a super fun day Saturday while Clayton was taking a nap. A great friend of ours told us how to make a tutu that Sara could wear. First we went to the fabric store where Sara got to pick out the colors she wanted. She had a very hard time only choosing one or two so we ended up getting enough to make three different tutus! We came home and she helped me do some cutting while Jason entertained himself by making a rope for her out of scraps. When we finished she was so excited that she had to do a ballerina dance for us! It was really a fun easy project.

Trust

This weekend the kids decided to make a game out of hiding under blankets. Well we discovered that if we put a blanket over Clayton's head he would just walk freely without any hesitations. It was very fun to watch. I thought it was incredible the amount of trust he had that we would not do anything to hurt him; and he listened so well when we gave warnings to not go the way he was going. I just hope that I never let him down and he continues to trust his mom and dad always listening as we warn not to go the wrong way.

We're really in trouble now...

So lately Clayton has had more and more of a desire to watch television. I try to only let Sara watch one or two shows each day and he really seems to look forward to this time. Lately at other times of the day he will make me get up from playing and pull me in to the room with a tv and point to tell me he would like to watch tv. Well of course I don't obey, but often times huge temper tantrums follow. I figured I could just take the TV away entirely for a couple of days and then maybe he wouldn't want it so much. Well today as I am making breakfast and Jason is working on the yard Clayton came in from outside and figured out how to turn the tv on and get his video to come on. He only had a very short time, but he figured it out. I think that he is always going to be one step ahead of me.
Here he figured out how to get the TV on. Then below he got the VCR on. That is when he noticed I was watching him- notice the "I just got caught face"

Once he pushed the tape in and the movie started he was so proud of himself.
Just have to settle in to my favorite chair and enjoy!
