Where a kid can be a kid!

For over a year we were blessed to live in this house while someone else paid the bills. A wonderful couple chose to go on a mission and leave the care of thier son to us and help us with finances for our trouble. It was a great blessing, but it was hard living in a house among someone elses belongings with two kids. Well they returned last April and we were blessed to be able to continue to rent this house from them while they relocated to Utah. Since then I have been working here and there on making this house our home. This weekend with some GREAT help I was able to finally get Sara and Clayton's room finished. I didn't plan on moving Clayton into a toddler bed so soon but once I put it in his room he settled right in and is doing a great job of staying in his bed at naptime and nightime. I don't dare take the crib down quite yet be because I like to be able to threaten that if he gets out of bed he will go back in the crib:) He looks so cute when I go in his room in the morning and he is sitting on the side of his bed just waiting for me.

No Tears, Just Smiles!

For the first time ever I had to wake my little angel up from a sound sleep at 6am. The first of many early mornings for her. She kept telling me mom it is just too early. She had a great morning with plenty of time to get ready for her first day of school and eat her favorite breakfast; fried eggs and toast.
Then we were able to go pick up her best friend Lucy up and head off across town to her new school. It is sooo big. My biggest fear is she is going to get lost. I can barely find my way around. She practiced all morning on how to say her teachers name, Mrs. Mutreja, pronounced Moo tray ja. I also made her memorize her classroom number just in case she gets out of place. Once we got to school she found a few familar faces including John Clark and Zoe Hastings, both people she knows from attending church, and both great kids to know in school. And then we dropped her off after a few pictures and headed over to let Clayton eat a donut while I visited with other moms in the PTA. As we started home Clayton continued to ask, "Me ride on bus now?" Not yet, I am not ready to give up my baby boy quite yet.

Piercing

Yesterday as I am driving my daughter to her preschool assessment we had this conversation...
"Mom, I want to get my tongue pierced."
"What!"(hoping this is not an actual conversation I am having with my 4 year old)
"I want to pierce my tongue."
"Well good luck with that"
"I also want to pierce my belly button, my nose, and my lips."
What the crap! How does a four year old even know about body piercing? Then it occurred to me that a few weeks ago we went to a pool party for Brynlee, and instead of playing with the other kids she wandered way over to the other side of the pool to make friends with some chic drinking a beer by the pool who had a belly ring. Which really makes me worry about what my wonderful princess has in store for her future.

Rest Mat

So I am really proud of myself for making this rest mat for Sara to take to school. Even though she has not napped in many years since she is attending a public school the state of Texas requires them to have a rest mat and quiet time on that mat. She may even need a nap once she starts getting up at 6am to catch the bus by 7. So originally I wanted to order one online that was super cute and comfy, but unfortunately most of the really cute ones were anywhere from 50.00 to 100.00! Which while I understand since fabric isn't cheap and it takes a lot to make one this was definately not in our price range for school supplies. So I went to walmart got a plastic mat for 8.00 and a sheet for 7.00, added it to a blanket and pillow we had in the pantry with no existing purpose, and now I am super excited that every day at school she will snuggle up something that I made just for her!

Growing up Fast

So just a few weeks ago I allowed Clayton to give up his bottle, even though this meant my baby boy was getting to be a big boy. Now I went even further and cut off his baby curls. Will they grow back? We will see, but now he looks like such a big boy it brings tears to my eyes. I love my babyies and I want to cherrish all the time I have with them, but it sure does go by way too fast.

Sara's First Primary Talk

Sara gave her first talk in Primary yesterday. She did so great, while I was telling her what to say it made her think of a primary song that she added into her talk. I thought is was super cute, but Jason thought that it didn't need to be a part of her TALK, I won. She sang it all on her own in primary. I tell this kid does not seem to get shy. I hope it stays that way.

And the race is on!

Clayton is off and learning how to pedal his new bike. Jason and I are curious if we can teach him to ride without training wheels before he is three.

Dallas World Aquarium

We have been to the aquarium many times this summer so I just assumed I could remember when they opened- wrong! But luckily even though we go there an hour before they opened we made it inside and up to the third floor where they kindly let us stay while they let all the animals get to there places. It was great we had the whole Rainforest area to ourselves.

Lake Richland Chambers

My mom lives an hour south of Dallas on Lake Richland Chambers. We don't get down to visit as much as we would like, but when we do- boy is it fun. I actually enjoyed tubing with Clayton the most because he didn't mind going faster. Got to love daring boys.

4th Of July

Here are some fantastic pics a friend of mine took at the Fourth of July breakfast. So glad she captured the pouting Sara did over the fact that I gave her the wrong color bells for a song the primary sang.

A Visit From The Bottle Fairy

Clayton very excitedly gathered all his bottles this morning and placed them in a bag for the Bottle Fairy. We headed to the dentist and when we returned he shouted, "Bottle Fairy Came, Bottle Fairy Came." The Bottle Fairy came and took all of his bottles and left him a super soft Kitty. So far he seems very happy and excited, hopefully it will last through the night.

Mesquite Rodeo

Another great evening thanks to the Mesquite Rodeo. The kids had a blast riding ponies, eating tons of junk, and watching crazy people getting thrown from horses and bulls!
